Privacy Policy

Last updated:

SpecIQ (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to information collected through speciq.ca and any related services we operate.

If you have questions about this policy or how your information is handled, contact us at privacy@speciq.ca.

Information We Collect

We collect information in a few specific situations, all tied to running our business:

  • Information you provide directly. When you submit a quote request, send us a text or email, sign up for updates, or otherwise contact us, we collect what you give us — typically your name, company name, email address, phone number, project details, and any drawings or attachments you upload.
  • Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, we automatically log standard server information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, the referring URL, and the date and time of your visit. We use this to understand site usage and improve performance, not to identify you personally.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. We use a small number of first-party cookies and analytics tools to measure site traffic and understand which content is useful. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16 years of age. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to quote requests, technical questions, and other inquiries.
  • Prepare proposals, estimates, and project documentation.
  • Schedule installations, deliveries, and service follow-ups.
  • Send transactional emails related to a project you’ve engaged us on (order confirmations, shipping notices, etc.).
  • Send occasional product updates, industry reference material, or case studies — only to contacts who’ve opted in or who are already working with us. You can opt out at any time.
  • Operate, maintain, and improve our website and services.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and lawful requests from authorities.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, ever. We do not use it for behavioral advertising. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

How We Share Information

We share personal information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers. We use a small set of third-party tools to run the business — for example, our form-handling provider, our email host, our cloud hosting platform, and our project-management software. These vendors process information on our behalf under contractual confidentiality terms and may only use it to provide their services to us.
  • Project partners. When a project requires it, we may share relevant information with subcontractors, equipment manufacturers, installers, or inspectors — but only the specific information needed to complete that project.
  • Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or if disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
  • Business transfers. If SpecIQ is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you and any successor will be bound by this Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described above, or as required by law. Quote requests and project records are typically retained for at least seven years to support warranty claims, regulatory inquiries, and accounting obligations. Website analytics data is retained in aggregate form for up to 26 months.

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it so it can no longer be associated with you.

How We Protect Information

We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encrypted transport (HTTPS) across our website and services, access controls on internal systems, and routine review of our security practices.

No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affects your information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

Your Choices and Rights

You have the following choices about your information:

  • Access, correction, or deletion. You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccuracies, or request that we delete it (subject to legal retention obligations). Contact privacy@speciq.ca.
  • Opt out of marketing emails. Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us to be removed from any list. Opting out of marketing does not stop transactional emails related to an active project.
  • Cookie controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Doing so may affect the functionality of some site features but will not prevent you from browsing the site.
  • Do Not Track. Our website does not respond to “Do Not Track” signals because there is no consistent industry standard for them. Our cookie practices are described above.

Residents of certain jurisdictions (including California and the European Economic Area) may have additional rights under applicable law, such as the right to data portability or to object to certain processing. Contact us and we will work with you to honor those rights to the extent required.

Our site may link to third-party websites or services we don’t control. This Privacy Policy doesn’t cover those sites; we encourage you to review their privacy practices before sharing information with them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date shown above the policy text. If the changes are material, we will provide additional notice (for example, by email or a notice on the site) before the changes take effect. Continued use of the site after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
